Magic Flight Launch Box

The Magic Flight Launch Box is the ultimate product to use when you need to enjoy your herbs quickly and quietly. Quite simply, the Launch Box is the smallest, fastest, and stealthiest vaporizer available anywhere in the world!

This little wooden box really is beautiful, and I’m starting to believe it really is magic too! It’s tiny, about the size of a small box of wooden matches. Not significantly larger than two AA batteries sitting next to each other.

The left half of the Launch Box is taken up by the chamber used to hold the screen (and your load), while the right half of the box holds the single AA rechargeable battery used to heat the screen. The entire top of the Box is covered with a 1/4″ plastic cover that is attached in one corner, and swivels out of the way to provide complete access to the chamber. The cover is held firmly in place, yet is really easy to slide out of the way.

Magic Flight include two AA NiMH batteries for use with the Box. If you choose to use your own batteries, you’ll have to peel off the the outer plastic wrapper before they’ll work with the MFLB.

Filling up the bowl is easy and very secure.

You fire up the unit by pushing the AA battery all the way into the Box. You don’t have to press and hold the battery in while using it.

I really like the operation the way it is – the battery is held pretty firmly in position. There is a down side to this though; you really must remember to slide the battery out a little when you’re done.

You can travel with the battery completely removed (even if the bowl is full), or you can reverse the battery so it doesn’t work electrically, but is held in place in its spot in the Box. You could also travel with the battery inserted correctly, but not pushed in all the way, but this makes it all too easy to accidentally fire up the unit when it’s in your pocket.

Before inserting the battery all the way, I sucked on the tube, and was astounded to see the air patterns in the bowl. The finely ground load swirled nicely around the bowl. Another big smile.

I take a hit, and everything is fine, sweet taste and way more vapor density than I expected. Nearly as much vapor density as I get with my Volcano Vaporizer. This is really great. Even after more bowlfuls, I still don’t really ever see much vapor in the bowl.

The MFLB holds way more than one hit. I think of it as a three-hitter to twelve-hitter! If I fill the bowl full, I get a dozen good hits, with the last hit or two not being very tasty. The last couple of hits actually seem to have more vapor density than the previous ones, probably due to my current technique which allows the screen to get hotter at the end. Interestingly enough, I don’t get the “roasted popcorn” flavor at the end, just less good flavor and more grunge flavor. I’m a flavor kind of guy, so most of my experimenting was with a partial filling, about a third of the way full. This gives me three or four really good hits before the load appears to be done.

Speaking of which, the Box appears to do a good job of evenly extracting the good stuff. The load turns uniformly brown. If I pack a full load (12 hits worth), the outside does turn brown before the inside, but stirring between hits (either manually with a NON-SHARP tool, or by just inhaling too strongly through the tube, which stirs things up) takes care of keeping the flavor sweet though more than just the first hit.

It looks like a full load is going to be perfect when I want to share with a friend or two.

I far prefer the Launch Box. It has charm. It works better for my needs, whether I’m sharing with a friend or by myself. It’s stealthy. It’s easy to use. The Launch Box is nice to handle (it’s a tiny package), easy to shake/stir, and easy to empty and clean.

The instructions say to only expect a bowlful or so per battery – this is important!

I use the temperature of the stream to determine how hard and long to draw, and I don’t miss not being able to see the vapor stream at all. I can tell if a battery is mostly depleted by noting how long it takes before the stream is warm. I use breath modulation to control the vapor density and temperature. Draw slowly as it’s easy to inhale too rapidly and cool off the chamber to below the point you desire.

As you can see, the Magic Flight Launch Box is very much on the small side. As a matter of fact, you could set four of these things on a single dollar bill. Talk about small. Until I unboxed it, I truly had no idea and was actually somewhat suprised about the size. But, it is a good thing. The size of the box makes it that much more versatile in terms of where you can bring and use it, therefore I have given it a 4 out of 5. Until you actually have this thing in your hands, you don’t fully understand how small this thing is, the Magic Flight sure delivers in this aspect.

Portability: 5.

In the few days I have had the Launch Box, I have brought it everywhere. The movies, the store, random burn cruises, the damn bathroom, everywhere. You can use it in almost any situation. 5 out of 5 for sure.

Craftsmanship/Warranty: 4.

I’m sure nobody likes a piece of junk thrown together, and neither do the folks at Magic Flight. Simply put, this is a very sturdy and reliable vape. It looks simple, yet I couldn’t stop admiring the tiny piece of work. It is very well put together, and with care, it could last you a very long time. Besides it comes with a lifetime warranty, though I don’t even think I will need it, considering how well put together and simple it is. Very well done. 4 out of 5.

Usage: 5.

This is where the Launch Box really shines. Whenever you want a quick toke you simply load the trench, slide the lid closed, and insert your battery, wait about 3 seconds and inhale slowly until out of breath. Its that simple. You could do it anywhere, almost anytime, you are simply sliding a battery into position. You might not get huge milky rips but it sure does get you ripped, thats for sure. I smoke way too much just because this vaporizer is so easy to operate. This might be a negative to some, but definitely not me. Five out of five without a doubt.

Arizer Solo Vaporizer

is a very well respected name in Vaporizing. The Arizer Extreme Q is one of the best desktop dual-delivery vaporizers out there. In mid-2011 Arizer launched their portable unit, the Arizer Solo Vaporizer. This vaporizer was built to compete in the high-end portable vaporizer market. Today we will review the Arizer Solo Vaporizer.

First lets see what comes in the package. Arizer products do not come in retail packaging, they come in plain brown boxes and are labelled as Hot Air generators, or pot-pourri warmers. This is a definate plus if shipping cross-border as any customs agent will assume this is a $25 device for your granny and let it pass through without any issue.

In the box you will find:

• The Arizer Solo unit. The unit is about the size of a Red Bull can. Diameter 1.75″ Heiht 4.5″.
• A/C Power Adapter for recharging.
• Pot Pourri warming dish
• 2 Glass Diffusing Stems
• User Instruction Manual
• Sample packet of Pot-pourri.

The unit itself is very well built. The first thing we noticed is how heavy the unit was. The unit comes with a lithium-ion rechargable battery built in, but the unit itself is made of some kind of metal alloy and feels very sturdy and strong. These units get hot so I feel better that this unit is not made of plastic which can melt. I was very impressed by the weight of the unit, yet it was not too heavy as to make it awkward.

The unit is meant to be a portable unit. The unit cannot be used while plugged in. This is different from earlier electric portable units such as the Vapir No2. The difference between the Arizer Solo and the Vapir No2 is battery life. The Vapir No2 runs out of battery charge in about 1 hour while the Arizer Solo can run 4 hours on a single charge. Heat up time was an impressive 1 and a half minutes which is impressive for any unit, electric or butane.

The Arizer Solo is not a true digital unit as it does not have a temperature reading. However, it has 7 levels which each represent 5 degree steps in Celcius. We tested with our laser thermometer and found that the temperatures were right on and the units heat retention was also good. You will not waste any material using the Arizer Solo. The Arizer solo also handles oils and concentrates really well, this is one edge that the Solo has over other portable units.

Now in terms of usage and quality there is good news and bad news. The good news is the Solo uses a glass stem system to produce glass on glass heating. This produces the absolute best tasting and best quality vapor you can get out of any portable. The bad news is that it uses glass. A portable vaporizer is supposed to be convenient and easy to use on the go. Fiddling with a glass wand/stem can be a little tricky when you’re on the move. Glass is always tricky when it comes to vaporizers. My very first vaporizer had a rubber tube with a glass mouthpiece. It took me all of 2 hours after unpacking the unit to break the mouthpiece! Arizer cuts you a bit of slack as you get 2 stems with your unit, and replacement stems are readily available from your favourite vaporizer store.

The best way to overcome the glass issue is to purchase a case for your Arizer Solo. Some dealers sell a hard case with cut out foam inserts so all your Arizer Solo parts fit nicely in place. You can find these cases reasonably priced at Vaporizer Store.

Earlier versions of the Arizer Solo used a ceramic heating element. Some users reported problems with the ceramic units and they have since changed to a stainless steel heating chamber. If you are purchasing and you want to ensure you are getting the current model, make sure the batch number is M105 or greater.

So after weighing all the factors, we give the Arizer Solo 4 1/2 stars. While we applaud Arizer for using a glass design which resulted in the absolute best and most efficient vapor, we still found it to be a little clumsy. But as with everything, the more you use it the better you get with it. After spending 2 weeks using the unit we found the glass stem system to work out just fine especially when stored neatly in the travel case when not in use. The battery time was sufficient that it doesn’t need to be recharged twice in the same evening.

Now in comparison to the Iolite Wispr, its all of a sudden hard to say.  Both units are good quality.  The Arizer SOLO has a slight edge on taste, while the Iolite Wispr has a slight edge on portability.   In terms of length of usage, the Iolite Wispr has a slight advantage, in that you can carry a small canister of butane in your pocket, whereas you have to charge the Arzier Solo if the battery runs out.

The other issue with Arizer is warranty. Arizer takes a very serious stand on underselling. The Arizer Solo should be sold at $239.99 Canadian or $229 US. Authorized Arizer dealers will sell the unit at these correct prices. If you find the unit at a lower price than this then there is a serious catch. Units sold at the lower price are not eligible for warranty service. In order to qualify for warranty you must submit your receipt whether it be through credit card, or Paypal, the receipt will show the price you paid. Dealers trying to make a quick buck will sell the unit for $199.99 and if the unit breaks you are on your own. Make sure you purchase from an authorized dealer, like Vaporizer Store or NFusion California Vaporizers.

WISPR Vaporizer Ease of Use

In regards to ease of use, I was able to follow the detailed illustrations to activate the WISPR with no troubles. After the testing process, I believe the WISPR is perfect for adults of all ages and a little easier to operate than its predecessor, the iolite.

First, I filled a minimal amount of Natural Butane Gas (5x refined recommended) into the WISPR gas chamber, located underneath the unit. The fuel gage allowed me to see the exact amount needed when filling the gas to the proper level. One fill of Butane now has an increased charge time of 3 hours.

I simply pressed the power switch (located on the back of the WISPR) half way down with my thumb to activate the fuel release.

Then I pressed the switch all the way down to activate the patented flameless gas catalytic heater and thermostat.

Once the WISPR is operating, the large Orange temperature control light on the port of the unit will stay lit until the optimal Vaporization temperature is achieved.

To turn off the WISPR, I simply return the power switch to its original position and the unit will cool down in less than 3minutes. There is an instant cut off of gas, no cycling down required while the unit cools down.

WISPR Vaporizer Heat up Time

The WISPR’s catalytic heating element is built into an isolated chamber which allows the butane to heat the unit. The upgraded heating method, allowed me to reach the desired heating temperature in only 2 minutes.

WISPR Vaporizer Efficiency / Effectiveness

Each draw from the WISPR’s new flexible mouthpiece produces a rich layer of Vapor, I achieved a visible vapor upon each exhale.

The enhanced thermostatically controlled bi-metal regulator maintains a steady temperature of 374 degrees Fahrenheit/ 190 degrees Celsius, allowing me to maintain a constant vapor while in use.

When I finished Vaporizing, I took off the filling chamber and inserted the new aromatherapy receptacle, a separate accessory, to fill the room with some lavender oils.

There is a new contender for the ultra high end market and that means I must serve duty as vaporizer reviews king. Vaporfection viVape Vaporizer Review time.  This unit was announced in late September and is officially launching this month January 2012.

Vaporfection is a company that has been around since 2003 and they have a good reputation for being one of the smaller companies that really care about their customer.  That being said,  what warrants such a high price on a Vaporizer, a price that is within shouting distance of the world champion Volcano Vaporizer.

A picture is worth a thousand words.  The Vaporfection viVape is the first Vaporizer in the world to have a touch screen control panel.   It is no secret that consumers love digitally controlled vaporizers.   In the last year there has been a big push for units with digital controls.  There was so much of a demand that Volcano released a digital version of it’s flagship Vaporizer.    For the high end market, digital displays meant more accurate temperature controls and monitoring.

Another very smart move by Vaporfection is that the the viVape vaporizer is dual-draw, having both balloon and direct wand draw capabilities, which are controlled by the touch screen.  On top of that, unlike some other Vaporizers, this unit comes with everything you need so you can experiment with both methods as soon as your unit arrives in the mail.

I do have to admit, this is a very clean and sexy looking unit.   The ViVape Vaporizer is available in two colors, black and white.  We like the black unit best, which is what our top secret tester unit came as.  Now its great that it has the touch screen and looks nice, but what about the most important part, its functionality and it’s guts?

First, in what I consider a smart move, the people at ViVape Vaporizer decided to make the voltage both 110 and 240 compatible making this Vaporizer useable anywhere in the world.  This is cool not just for the consumer who can use it on trips, but from a marketing standpoint as well, as their product can be sold anywhere in the world without adding cheap adapters.

Now lets talk about the touch screen.   I am really a big fan of this.  You select whether you want to do balloon or wand via the touch screen, and of course it also shows your current temperature and target temperature.  This truly is as simple and uncomplicated as it gets but for some reason it seems 20 times cooler being touch screen.

The insides of this unit are no joke either.  the touch screen is attached to a some fancy temp sensing technology which is all automatic and working behind the scenes.  the viVape vaporizer literally has a digital microprocessor which controls the temperature via the thermo coupling sensor it is wired to on the inside.  This makes for extremely precise temperature control .  The unit also has an auto shut off and cool down program which is very smart.

So with all that out of the way, lets talk about our tester unit.  While we don’t consider looks to be at the top of the priority list when it comes to a Vaporizer, this unit is very sexy.  The construction seems solid, though we were not allowed to test that theory by dropping it or throwing it against a wall.  The touch screen is quality and accurate in terms of responding to your finger.

The vapor this unit produces is very high quality.  As usual with any unit you need to find the sweet spot temperature wise but we found the readout to be extremely accurate and on point.  The vapor was super clean and very tasty.  We experimented with both the balloon and the wand and enjoyed both very much.

If we had to come up with a critique, it would involve portability.  This unit is the perfect size to be a portable, and if it was it could compete with the less expensive Iolite Wispr vaporizer.  But it’s not.  It requires being plugged in. Now this isn’t a huge deal, and to be honest due to the price of this unit I’m glad that most people will be leaving it at home and not risking damage while out and about, but it would be nice to have the feature be available.  I will say of all the vaporizer reviews I’ve done, the vivape vaporizer review excited me most because of the very cool touchscreen aspect, as nerdy as that sounds.

Overall, if you are looking for an at home unit that is small and compact, yet full of features and quality, and you are shopping in the $400-$500 range and want the best, while still being able to use both whip and balloon, the Vaporfection viVape Vaporizer is for you.
